About My Family

Hello and welcome to my blog.  I hope that you are able to get a lot of useful information from this website.  Before we get started on saving money by doing it yourself, I should introduce you to my family.

First there is my husband, Dan.  He is the whole reason I started doing the whole DIY project.  A little over a year ago he lost his job after 11 years.  We came to rely on just my income from SSDI.  It was just enough to cover our rent and basic needs.  And on top of that we had a little on the way.  Quite literally seeing as she was due to arrive on the scene 2 weeks after he lost his job.  We ended up having to move the week before our daughter was born.

Speaking of our daughter, Sarai is about to turn 1 and is into everything.  She puts everything into her mouth and as a worried mother, I want to make sure the any chemical I might use wouldn't be harmful if she accidentally got some in her mouth.  While I know that a lot of the cleaning chemicals that I use are harmful if swallowed, the ones that I use in areas that she might be playing are not.  As well as making sure all the chemicals are non toxic, she also causes me to make sure that I am using my time as efficiently as possible.  When you have a 1 year old running (crawling in our case) around, you don't have a lot of time to spend coming up with a new homemade recipe.  So I make sure that all my recipes take less then 1 hour to make except for a few that have inactive time involved, like waiting for laundry soap to sit overnight.   As you can tell she loves to help Mommy around the house.  Laundry is her favorite task!  As soon as clothes come out of the dryer she is ready to "help" me fold them.

And then there is myself, Lyndsay.  Like I mentioned earlier I am on SSDI because of PTSD.  I have a lot of problems handling the stress of being in a public setting which causes me to have lots of anxiety attacks.  The easiest way for me to be in the public is through my blog.  However I do love love love to do DIY projects.  I really am grateful that I am able to use that to help save my family time and money.  It allows us to do things that we have never been able to do before.

So there you go.  My family.  As the days go by I am sure you will read about some crazy thing or another that one of us is doing.  I hope that our stories can bring a smile to your face.
